Great Women
There are a lot of Great Women in the history of the world that influenced the world and people. Of course there are much more men that have made a great contradiction to the world's history, but this fact may be explained by the suppression of the rights of women for a long time due to religious and social views.
Margaret Hilda Thatcher is one of the greatest women in the world. She was the prime minister of Great Britain from 1979 till 1990. She is the leader of Conservative Party. She is world-famous as "the Iron Lady", because she is severe and uncompromised in her politics. She is the first and the only woman in the world that occupied the position of prime minister. During her career she was honoured being named a Lady of the Most Noble Order of the garter. Besides, she is the first woman who became the honorary member of the Carlton Club, a gentlemen's club.
Joan of Arc is the national heroine of France. She is world-famous as "the Maid of Orleans" and was considered to be saint in catholic religion. Joan became famous because France got several important victories when she was the leader of French Army. She was burned at the stake by the English as she was accused to be a witch and to have contacts with the devil. These accusations were based on words of Joan that said that she had visions from God. Ecclesiastic court interpreted her words in another way. They proclaimed her to be a witch and explained her ability to see future by the pact with devil. There are a lot of books created by writers about the life of Joan of Arc.
Mother Teresa of Calcutta is a catholic nun who became famous thanks to her charity activity. The Missionaries of charity were founded first in India and then spread all over the world. She is considered to be Catholic Saint. She was honoured by a Nobel Peace Prize in 1979. In spite of her charity activity and humanisation work, there was a lot of criticism of her work. Pope John Paul 2 gave her the title Blessed Teresa of Calcutta. Till nowadays she is considered to be the kindest woman.
There are also a lot of other Great Women that were honoured in the world, all of them played an important role in the world's politics, religion and social life. Nowadays more and more women become world-famous and most of them are political Leaders.
Women may be delicate and tender, but at the same time they may be categorical and stubborn. They follow their politics and take hard decisions. And thanks to these features they succeed and gain their goals.
